I Barronci: A place for wellbeing
It was not the search for a good Chianti wine or a special recepie, but a“noisier” reason that used to lead Carlo Chiti, Giancarlo Minardi and Alessandro Nannini to stop off at I Barronci. They are all friends of Piero Mancini, who lives here, and they all share a passion about Formula One racing.
The passionate sessions ended amicably (well, almost). Near by there was Silvano Santandrea’s famous restaurant, La Tenda Rossa, which was always open and offered increasingly fine menus (today it has a Michelin rating).
The word spread, and the Ferrari driver Felipe Massa came to visit Piero’s son, Andrea, who is a racetrack engineer, for technical advice and a fettunta.
Roars of enthusiasm, in Japanese (sic!) came from friends like Yoshio Takaoka (Manager of Subaru-Rally), Tadashi Sasaki (the Kimono King) and Ryukiro Hayashi (President of Wacoal, the multinn unequallably sunset.
Actress Piera degli Esposti has also stopped off at I Barronci to visit Piero’s wife, Graziella. And Graziella was accustomed to receiv an early-morning call from Primo Conti to fix meetings in Fiesole.
It is also an obligatory stop for French style: Jean-Patrick and Silvestra (Piero’s eldest daughter), together with their children, spend time here while studying the new collections for the Paris prêt-à-porter of the Maison Finette.
Well-known figures still come to visit today: with unimaginable composure, rocker Piero Pelù is happy to drop round and to relax over a bowl of spaghetti, together with friends Filippo and Roberta, who are runnning the agriturismo,
There’s no doubt about it, those who stop off at I Barronci are anything but ‘lost’!
